From a cherry blossom festival to a hula celebration, Haiwaii offers a range of activities that celebrate the infusion of culture and the distinctive opportunities the typography of Hawaii gives.

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
 O'ahu
The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place over three months, continuing into March.  The festival features a variety of Japanese cultural events, most of which occur on O’ahu.
WAIMEA OCEAN FILM FESTIVAL
 Waimea and the Kohala Coast, Big Island
Four days of films featuring the ocean, ranging from surfing and Hawaiian canoe paddling to ecological issues. Information www.waimeaoceanfilm.org; tel. 808-854-6095. Generally the first weekend after New Years, January 3 to 7, 2013.

NARCISSUS FESTIVAL
 O'ahu
The Narcissus Festival is part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, and is held on O'ahu. It features food stalls, arts and crafts, a beauty pageant and a coronation ball, and festivities last for five weeks.
WAIMEA TOWN CELEBRATION WEEK
 Kauai
The aloha and unique character of the Waimea town come together for community events and the largest, held in February, is the Waimea Town Celebration. This year the event is 35 years old and hosts more than 10,000 people in an eight-day flurry of events.

HAWAII ISLAND HUMANE SOCIETY TROPICAL PAWS
Kailua-kona
Hawaii Island Humane Society’s 18th annual Tropical Paws will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai beginning at 6:00pm. The always-sold-out-event features abundant silent and live auctions, Four Seasons-style buffet dinner, live entertainment, and dancing.
KOKUA KAILUA
 Kona
One Sunday each month from 1pm to 6pm, oceanfront Alii Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Historic Kailua Village becomes a festive pedestrian-only walkway and marketplace.  Enjoy free music, artists, and friendly merchants for great shopping and delicious dining.  At 4pm, there is free Hawaiian entertainment on the lawn at Hulihee Palace honoring Hawaiian royalty.  Bring your own mat or chair and they will be checked for free while you stroll Alii Drive.

MERRIE MONARCH FESTIVAL
 Hilo
Hawaii’s most venerable hula celebration and competition with week-long festivities including exhibitions, musical entertainment, arts and crafts fairs and the Miss Aloha Hula Competition, kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) hula competitions.
WAILUKU FIRST FRIDAY
 
Wailuku Town’s monthly street parties with live music, side walk artisans, crafters, food vendors. Street closes to local traffic from 6pm to 9pm for this free community event. Live music at the Wailuku Banyan Tree Park.  Special music at Maui Thing stage and more.

WAIKIKI ARTFEST
 Honolulu
Our Waikiki Artfest features the work of approximately 75 of Hawaii’s finest artists and handcraft artisans who display their work for sale. Products include all types of jewelry, clothing, ceramics, woodwork, and fine art. We offer live music and great food and shave ice for our guests.
HONOLULU TRIATHLON
 Honolulu
Triathletes from around the world visit Oahu each May to compete in the Honolulu Triathlon. The triathlon features 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run courses that begin and end at Ala Moana Park. Events leading up to the triathlon include “Hustle Up the Hyatt Stair Race” and a short-distance kid’s triathlon at Kapiolani Park in Waikiki.

Every June 11th, thousands of people gather on the northern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii to honor Kamehameha I, the chief who united the Hawaiian Islands in 1795.

 Maui
