Kona Brewing Company

This local brewing company was originally founded by Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa. They were a father and son team dedicated to bringing the true taste of the island to craft beer. They started this venture in 1994 and have been pursuing their vision ever since.  They even sell globally while still showing dedication to their roots in Hawaii and their love of the land. They even try their best to practice Green production. Their brewery is energized by solar energy and their water is recycled via their on-site garden. They even use their extra grain to make the pizza they serve along with the beer. They even cut down on their transportation fuel and packaging use by establishing a brewery on the mainland instead of shipping everything from Hawaii. The same great process and taste is produced, but with less damaging effects to the earth. They are constantly trying to make their beer in the most sustainable way possible.

Their widely available beers across america include flavors like their Big Wave Golden Ale, Longboard Island Lager, Gold Cliff IPA, Kanaha Blonde Ale, Hanalei Island IPA, Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Wailua Wheat. What makes this brewery worth visiting however is their Hawaii only flavors. They have limited time Backyard Batches that use local ingredients and in some cases go to local charities. Currently they have flavors like Hibiscus Brut IPA, Cucumba Kolsch, and Purple Grain (a beer dedicated to the artist Prince). These flavors change frequently so guests should check their website for the most up-to-date limited time beers. Their draft-only beers at their brewery include Duke's Blonde Alde, Hula Hefeweizen, Black Sand Porter, and Kua Bay Ipa. Their most special Hawaii-only beer is the Lavaman Red Ale.

Guests can visit this brewery and taste these amazing beers at their pub from 11 am to 10 pm daily. They can visit the Growler Shack from 11 am to 9 pm for a bite to eat.
